Our Next Mission
Posted by Alan Burks, May 9th, 2010 5:04PM
Pete was a member of the 4th Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment.
There are 5,000 members of the Regiment.
4/2 SCR is in the process of deploying to Afghanistan. For security reasons, we don’t know where. But we do know it will be a hot spot. That’s when the Cavalry gets called in.
The Burks Country Store will redeploy with them.
The “store” is where the care packages we send are made available to the Regiment. Free.
We are in the process now of gathering the goods that we will ship.
Here’s where we can use your help.
You can donate goods directly that we will pack and ship.
The wish list of the troops includes:
-Healthy snacks (Clif Bars, PowerBars, etc.)
-Salty snacks (pistachios, Spicy Cheetohs, etc.)
-Chewing gum
-Red Vines and Gummi Bears
-Powdered Gatorade packets
-White socks
-Hand sanitizer
-Xbox games and consoles
-Notes from you and your family
-Beef Jerky
-Playing cards
-DVDs
-Toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash
Contact us and we will arrange to get your donated goods.
We also can use cash donations. Our largest expense is postage. The U.S. Mail is the only means of shipping goods into a war zone. It is expensive, but worth it.
Anything you can do to help us help our troops is greatly appreciated by the men and women who wear the Cloth of the Nation.
New Site, New Opportunities
Posted by Alan Burks, May 9th, 2010 4:45PM
Welcome to the new Peter Burks Unsung Hero Fund website.
Since December 2007, with your help, we have shipped over seven tons of soldier care packages into Iraq and Afghanistan.
We’ve updated the site so that we can keep you current on what we are working on and where we can use your help. It should be easier for you to contact us.
Please give us your feedback positive or negative.
Our mission is to support our troops in theater and to let them know their service is noticed, appreciated and supported by Americans at home.
Thanks for all of your support.
We’ll be here till they are all home safe.
